Kopp’s was the first custard stand to offer a special “Flavor of the Day” in addition to the more traditional flavors like chocolate and vanilla. A Storied History Dating Back 70+ Years
Founded by Elsa Kopp in 1950, Kopp’s restaurants continue to be heralded by local food publications for the quality ingredients and classic-yet-quirky vibes. The first Kopp’s Frozen Custard stand quickly rose in popularity during the 1950s and soon became a Milwaukee staple. By 1960, the Kopp’s stand was successful enough that Elsa felt compelled to experiment with more unique and unusual frozen custard recipes, many of which are still around today.
